Paint Your Wagon은 원래 1951년부터 공연한 브로드웨이 뮤지컬을 영화화 한 작품이다.
리 마빈과 클린트 이스트우드, 진 셰버그가 출연한 1969년의 뮤지컬 영화인데 썩 좋은 평은 아니다.
반면 리 마빈은 이 영화에서 부른 "Wandering Star"로 백만장이 넘는 판매고를 기록했다고 한다.

클린트 이스트우드 또한 "I Talk to the Trees"라는 노래도 불렀는데 나름 감미롭지만 뒤차지가 되버렸고 
골드러시때의 시대상을 그린 한 영화로, 내용을 음미하는 것보다는 그저 리마빈의 노래에
푹 빠졌던 것 같다. 사족이지만 머라이어 캐리의 이름을 그녀의 엄마가 여기 나오는 노래인

"They Call the Wind Maria(h)"에서 따와 지었다고 한다.
